The challenge

Facing a demand for quick access to sales materials, the L’Oréal Professional Products Division Street Team needed a streamlined way to gather and present internal resources. They juggled numerous brand books, promotional materials, and educational tools from nine distinct brands; Redken, Matrix, Biologe, Mizani, L’Oréal Professionnel Paris, Pureology, Pulp Riot, Kérastase, and Shu Uemura . The complexity of managing these brand resources led to inefficiencies and missed opportunities, calling for a solution that was empowering for their team.

The solution

My project with L’Oréal was the development of a dual-purpose app designed to simplify access for their team while promoting the advantages of Salons who partner with L’Oréal Professional Products. Launched as a pilot in the Summer of 2022 and set for full rollout throughout their organization in Q1 2024, the app serves as a centralized, constantly updated library for their content, showcasing the allure of L’Oréal’s brands and reinforcing the beauty of partnership.

Continuously Updated, Always Relevant.

The app delivers always-fresh content, with each of the nine brands contributing their current materials. This consistency ensures that the street team is equipped with the latest information to present to salon owners.

Simplified Navigation.

With an intuitive interface, the app allows the street team to easily sort and share materials. It’s designed to be foolproof, ensuring that the most critical content is readily accessible and presentable.

My journey from concept to full-scale deployment for this app has been so much fun. Collaborating with the bright people over at L’Oréal, adapting to the evolving needs of their Street Team, and orchestrating a symphony of brand voices into a single, harmonious user experience has taught me so much as a designer. The process has given me a keen understanding of user-centric design, project management, and the value of an empowered team. The reception from L’Oréal has been incredible so far and it makes me so happy to support them. This project didn’t just shape a solution for L’Oréal—it shaped me, refining my design philosophy and reinforcing my belief in the power of thoughtful, simple design to solve complex challenges.
